Prime Minister Stresses Urgent Need for Investment Law Amendment


Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi emphasized the importance of passing the draft amendment to the Investment Law, which he described as a crucial piece of legislation.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Zaidi’s media office issued a press release stating that he received a delegation from the Reconstruction and Development parliamentary bloc, led by Bahaa Hussein al-Araji. The meeting addressed the general situation in the country, reviewed governmental steps in implementing its executive program, and discussed various issues related to services, citizens’ needs, and project financing, such as hospital projects and border crossings.



The Prime Minister highlighted the significant role of the Reconstruction and Development bloc, the largest parliamentary bloc in the Council of Representatives. He noted that there are 44 draft laws, including those concerning the Food and Drug Authority, the Popular Mobilization Forces, and the Internal Oversight Authority, which are crucial for the Council to pass. He stressed that the country’s reconstruction is facilitated through the enactment of laws that support development.



Al-Zaidi reiterated the importance of passing the draft amendment to the Investment Law to align with Iraq’s investment needs and development vision, which requires the state to provide necessary infrastructure for projects.



The head and members of the Reconstruction and Development Bloc expressed their full support for the Prime Minister and the government in combating corruption and implementing economic reforms. They also emphasized the importance of passing the Oil and Gas Law and praised the Prime Minister’s initiative on the one million residential plots project.
