Baghdad: The Prime Minister's Media Office has firmly denied a report by The New York Times concerning Iraqi mediation efforts aimed at establishing a ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the media office of Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi issued a press release dismissing the claims made in the July 23, 2026, report by The New York Times as unfounded and disconnected from reality. The Prime Minister's office emphasized that the report's assertions lack any factual basis.

The media office urged all media outlets to ensure accuracy in their reporting by relying on official sources. It also called for the avoidance of circulating information that is undocumented or attributed to unknown sources. The New York Times had claimed that Iran had rejected Iraqi mediation efforts to put an end to the ongoing conflict with the United States, a claim now refuted by the Prime Minister's Media Office.
