Prime Minister’s Planned Visit to Washington Seen as Strategic Move by Iraqi Leadership

Baghdad: The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Sabah Al-Numan stated that Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Falih Al-Zaidi’s upcoming visit to Washington is a pivotal strategic step.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Numan emphasized on Saturday that the official visit of Al-Zaidi, who will lead a high-level Iraqi delegation to the U.S. capital, signifies ‘the reality of a new Iraq marked by stability, growth, and sovereignty.’ This visit underscores Iraq’s current international engagement from a position of strength and sustained stability, rooted in substantial on-the-ground advancements and sovereign realities. The country is transitioning towards enhanced security capabilities and comprehensive strategic development.

Al-Numan elaborated that the vision for the visit is anchored in the correlation between preserving Iraq’s security achievements and fostering economic growth. This dynamic is expected to open up wide-ranging opportunities for internati
onal partnerships and engagement with major global companies. The visit aims to activate joint strategic frameworks that protect Iraq’s sovereign interests and bolster the stability of its domestic investment climate.

He further stated that the robust security environment established by Iraq’s security forces, through their sacrifices, now forms a solid foundation for achieving notable progress in reconstruction and development efforts. ‘These international initiatives aim to leverage this stability to generate prosperity and build strong state institutions, ensuring Iraq remains a regional model characterized by a new vision that safeguards sovereignty and promotes welfare,’ Al-Numan concluded.
