Basra: Residents of Basra Governorate held a protest against the treatment of local fishermen by Kuwaiti authorities. The protest took place amidst tight security measures. During the demonstration in front of the Kuwaiti Consulate in Basra, on the Corniche Street, the protesters condemned the violations committed against Iraqi fishermen by Kuwaiti authorities in Iraqi territorial waters, which resulted in the death of one fisherman and the injury of another. They demanded protection for their lives and rights.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the protesters called on the Iraqi government to take measures to prevent the recurrence of these violations of Iraqi sovereignty.
