Baghdad: Angry protesters blocked a street near the Tariq Company area south of Kirkuk, protesting the failure to operate private generators. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the demonstrators expressed their frustration over the ongoing power issues that have been exacerbated by the inability to run private generators.

Private generator owners have threatened a general strike in response to the challenges they face, including a lack of subsidized fuel supplies. This situation is further compounded by increasing power outages from the national grid, which exceed 16 hours daily. Additionally, there is a prohibition on transporting their products commercially, which the owners argue is categorized as fuel smuggling.
