Kut: Dozens of residents of Kut demonstrated against the implementation of the privatization system for electricity fee collection in the governorate. The protesters closed the headquarters of the company responsible for the collection, demanding that the Wasit Provincial Council issue a decision to completely cancel its operation. They emphasized that electricity bills have risen in a manner disproportionate to household incomes.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, one of the protesters stated, “We demand that the Wasit Provincial Council assume its responsibilities towards the residents, respond to their demands, and end the operations of these companies in the governorate.” The demonstrators insist that the privatization system is unfairly impacting the financial well-being of the local population.
