Putin: The Military Operation In Ukraine Aims To Ensure Our Security

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed on Sunday that the outcome Moscow needs from the special military operation is to eliminate the causes that led to the crisis, create the conditions for achieving lasting peace, and ensure Russia's security.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, speaking about the results of the special military operation, the Russian president said, "The outcome of the special military operation must be long-term peace and the protection of the interests of the Russian-speaking population in Ukraine."

He stressed that the outcome Russia needs from the new world order is to eliminate the causes that led to the crisis, create the conditions for lasting peace, and ensure Russian security. He explained that his country treats the national interests of the United States with respect and proceeds from the premise that reciprocity will be accorded to Russia's national interests.

Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul the day before yesterday, at the conclusion of which the two sides agreed to a prisoner exchange according to the "1,000 for 1,000" formula, to present their vision for a possible future ceasefire, to elaborate on it, and to continue the negotiation process. The Russian President recently suggested the possibility of holding direct talks without preconditions with Ukraine in Istanbul, stressing that Moscow has never refused to engage in dialogue with the Ukrainian side.
