Putin’s Envoy Arrives in Baghdad to Participate in the Arab Summit


Baghdad: The Special Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, arrived in Baghdad today. He was received at Baghdad International Airport by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Hussein Bahr al-Ulum.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement: “Bogdanov’s visit comes in response to an official invitation to participate in the activities of the 34th Arab Summit, which will be hosted by the capital, Baghdad, the day after tomorrow, Saturday, as a representative of the Russian side in the sessions of international partners.”



The statement added that during the reception, the two sides emphasized the depth of friendship and cooperation between Iraq and Russia, and both sides’ keenness to enhance bilateral and regional coordination, thus contributing to efforts to achieve stability and peace in the region.



The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained in its statement that “Russia’s participation in the summit confirms its commitment to continuing dialogue with Arab countries and strengthening partnership with the League of Arab States in confronting regional and international challenges.”
