Seoul: Pyongyang launches GPS jamming attacks The South Korean army announced that North Korea launched GPS jamming attacks on Friday and Saturday, an ongoing operation that affects a number of ships and dozens of civilian aircraft in South Korea.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul said in a statement that “North Korea carried out GPS jamming provocations in Haeju and Kaesong yesterday and today.” The agency added that several ships and dozens of civilian aircraft are experiencing “some operational disturbances” as a result.

This comes amid escalating tensions between the two Koreas, as Pyongyang conducted missile tests, while South Korea continues to accuse its northern neighbor of sending troops to the border areas between Russia and Ukraine. North Korea recently showed off its military might by testing a new, massive, solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile, the Hwasong-19, amid international condemnation of its deployment of troops to help Russia in Ukraine

North Korea and the South Korean and Japanese militaries, which tracked the missile’s path in space before it fell into the ocean between Japan and Russia, said the missile launched on Thursday flew higher than any Pyongyang has previously launched. The North’s official Korean Central News Agency hailed the missile as “the world’s most powerful strategic missile.”
