Madrid: Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Yan Diomande and are in talks with RB Leipzig over a potential deal for the 19-year-old winger. Paris Saint-Germain remain keen on the Ivory Coast international, and Diomande had made the back-to-back European champions his preference, but they have not yet shown a willingness to offer a level of fee that would convince Leipzig to consider a sale this summer.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Madrid registering their interest in signing Diomande has changed the winger's situation and has created competition for his signature. The Athletic reported on June 24 that Madrid have been eyeing a player in an attacking right-sided position in case Brahim Diaz were to leave in this transfer window. The Morocco international wants to stay in the Spanish capital and head coach Jose Mourinho, and Madrid believe he is a valuable asset, but the club is now actively working on a deal for Diomande.

Diomande, who joined Leipzig a year ago from Spanish side Leganes, had also been the subject of an approach from Liverpool earlier in the summer, close to £100 million (£86.8m; $115m) in value. The German club had been holding out for a fee closer to £130 million while also trying to tie Diomande, whose existing contract runs through the 2029-30 season, to a new deal - and are hopeful he will remain at the club beyond the September 1 transfer deadline.

Madrid have been busy following the return of Mourinho for a second spell as head coach, more than a decade after his 2010-13 reign ended, with Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Marc Cucurella all signed.
