Maysan: Detachments from the Antiquities and Heritage Protection Police Department in Maysan Governorate have discovered 30 rare archaeological artifacts during an inspection tour in Al-Kahla District. The artifacts, which date back to various historical eras, were found at the Abu Al-Hajal and Al-Maftoul archaeological sites.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Maysan Governorate Police Command announced that the artifacts were discovered on the surface of the Maftoul site. The location of these artifacts made them vulnerable to theft and tampering. Consequently, the specialized detachment responsible for the inspection tour took swift action to secure the items.

The statement from the police command further explained that the artifacts were transported to the department’s headquarters. This measure is part of the preparations for referring the artifacts to the Maysan Antiquities and Heritage Inspectorate. The inspectorate will take the necessary legal actions and follow appropriate regulations to ensure the artifacts’ protection and preservation.
