Baghdad: The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities announced that the Fourth Ring Road project will feature both two-lane and four-lane sections, aiming to connect new residential cities and support the expansion of Baghdad.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry's spokesperson, Nabil Al-Saffar, highlighted the strategic importance of the Fourth Ring Road in promoting urban and economic growth in Baghdad. The road will consist of two lanes, each having four lanes, and includes a dedicated lane for public transportation in the median strip.
Al-Saffar further explained that the road will traverse new residential areas such as Al-Ward City, Al-Jawahiri City, and the new Sadr City residential zone, linking these with the highways to the Nahrawan area, which is slated to host multiple residential projects. Nahrawan will also be connected to the Baghdad-Kut Road through two additional ring roads.
The spokesperson stressed the necessity of urban expansion due to the pressure on central Baghdad, positioning the Fourth Ring Road as a crucial development in this context. Additionally, the ministry has initiated the process of requesting basic designs for the Fifth Ring Road to accommodate Baghdad's growing expansion needs.
