BAGHDAD: The Ministry of Transport has announced the reopening of Iraqi airspace to civil aircraft, marking a significant step in reviving the nation's aviation sector. This move allows for the crossing, departure, and arrival of civil aircraft at Iraqi airports, following measures to address and mitigate security concerns. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the decision was made after the Ministry of Transport assessed and overcame various risks that previously threatened the security and safety of civil aviation in Iraq. The Minister of Transport has issued an order to facilitate the resumption of civil aircraft operations, allowing for the movement of flights arriving at, departing from, and crossing through Iraqi airspace. The Ministry's media office stated that the General Company for Airports and Air Navigation Management has commenced operations to manage Iraqi airspace and accommodate the influx of civil aircraft. Furthermore, the General Company for Iraqi Airways is set to resume its flights and reactivate its routes to various destinations, coinciding with the reopening of airspace to civil aircraft movement.
