Baghdad:Researchers have devised an innovative approach to utilize old Android smartphones as computing units for controlling bipedal robots, offering a potential reduction in development costs.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the technology, which was highlighted by Yahoo Tech, takes advantage of the processors in older phones. These processors are used to run control algorithms and process data, enabling robots to perform tasks such as walking, tracking individuals, and regaining balance after stumbling.
The repurposing of these devices not only aims to cut down on electronic waste but also provides a cost-effective computing solution. However, challenges such as power consumption, operational efficiency, and connectivity between devices still need to be addressed.
