Ankara: Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced the resumption of flights between the Turkish capital, Ankara, and the Syrian capital, Damascus. In a post on the X platform, Uraloglu shared that a new bridge has been constructed between Ankara and Damascus, symbolizing the enduring friendship between Turkey and Syria. The first flight is scheduled to depart from Ankara’s Esenboga Airport to Damascus International Airport.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Minister of Transport revealed that direct flights on the Ankara-Damascus route will be available three days a week: Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays. Most airlines had suspended flights to and from Damascus in 2012 due to the Syrian regime’s response to the protests that began in 2011. However, on January 7, several airlines resumed operations to and from Damascus Airport following the Syrian Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority’s announcement about the resumption of international flights at Damascus International Airport.
