Retirees Protest in Basra Over Delayed Financial Entitlements

Basra: Retirees from the 10,000 job positions in Basra protested on Monday in front of the Basra Education Directorate, demanding the immediate disbursement of their financial entitlements, which have been delayed for three months.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the protestors urged relevant authorities to urgently address the issue of delayed salaries. They highlighted that the ongoing delay in payment has significantly impacted their well-being and that of their families. The retirees emphasized the need for prompt action to ensure they receive their due compensation.

The demonstration saw several participants faint due to high temperatures and prolonged exposure to the sun. Despite these challenges, the protesters remained steadfast in their demand for financial rights, underscoring the severity of their situation and the urgent need for resolution.
