Dubai: The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation is hosting a retrospective exhibition for the late visual artist Abdul Latif Al Samoudi, known for his unique blend of Arab heritage and modern art. The exhibition, titled ‘Colors from the Tale of Absence,’ will open at 7:30 pm on September 9th in the Foundation’s main exhibition hall.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the exhibition will be followed by an art symposium featuring artists Hisham Al Mazloum and Talal Moalla. They will discuss the works of Al Samoudi, a prominent figure in the world of Arab visual arts. The exhibition showcases a collection of his artworks, reflecting his creative journey in merging authenticity with modernity. Al Samoudi’s paintings draw inspiration from Islamic and Eastern heritage, leaving a lasting impression on the art world.

A highlight of the exhibition is the first-time display of the painting ‘Hama 1982,’ a mural commemorating the events in the Syrian city of Hama during the early 1980s. This significant piece measures 345 cm in length and 175 cm in height.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to explore Al Samoudi’s artistic legacy, tracing the evolution of his work from his early days to his passing in 2005. Recognized as a pioneer of abstract art in the Arab world, Al Samoudi used symbols and letters to craft a distinct style filled with vibrant colors and motifs. His works invite viewers into a world rich with memory and history, offering depth and contemplation through a structured yet harmonious interplay of elements.
