Rubio Focuses on Strait of Hormuz Agreement

Washington: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that the immediate agreement currently being focused on concerns the Strait of Hormuz, through which oil is currently flowing, meaning it is open. Rubio stated in a press conference: "President Trump has been clear that Iran cannot acquire a nuclear weapon, and therefore the agreement is about ensuring that."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Rubio explained that negotiations between Oman and Iran are discussing the safe passage of more ships through Hormuz, and the US is engaged in those discussions and negotiations. He added that these negotiations regarding safe maritime passage coincide with their move towards extended talks on the Iranian nuclear program.

Rubio affirmed that progress has been made in the Iranian nuclear disarmament talks, although a final agreement has not yet been reached, and there is hope that one will be achieved soon.
