Russia Announces Control Over Two More Towns in Eastern Ukraine

Baghdad: The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that its forces had seized control of the towns of Zelenyi in Kharkiv Oblast and Sukhitske in Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry stated that its forces inflicted losses on Ukrainian forces on several fronts within the area of the special military operation over the past 24 hours, resulting in 1,085 soldiers either killed or wounded, in addition to numerous military vehicles being destroyed. The statement also mentioned that air defense forces successfully shot down 94 drones, HIMARS missiles, and four guided aerial bombs.

Russia had previously announced advances by its forces on several battlefronts and their control of several new areas in eastern Ukraine. This development coincides with ongoing US-led peace talks aimed at reaching a ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow.
