Moscow: Russia has expressed its willingness to resume negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing Ukrainian crisis with the help of Turkish mediation. This announcement comes amidst ongoing efforts by Ankara to facilitate dialogue between the two nations.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in a statement made in Moscow, confirmed Russia's openness to the idea of Turkish-mediated talks. This statement was in response to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's reaffirmation of Turkey's commitment to fostering negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and pursuing diplomatic solutions to the conflict.
Peskov expressed gratitude towards Turkey for its role but noted that, currently, there are no immediate expectations for the resumption of talks. He mentioned that Russia had not observed any indications of movement in this direction, yet remains open to pursuing negotiations.
Regarding changes in Ukraine's defense leadership, Peskov remarked that the identity of the Ukrainian Defense Minister is less significant than having a responsible figure in the Ukrainian administration capable of facilitating a peaceful resolution and ending military operations.
Earlier the same day, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, during a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, mentioned the possibility of Turkey hosting new negotiations or meetings between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia.
