Moscow: The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that air defense systems successfully shot down 31 Ukrainian drones overnight. The drones were intercepted over the western provinces of Russia, as well as over Crimea, the Black Sea, and the Sea of Azov.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official statement from the Russian Defense Ministry detailed that the drones were intercepted between 11:00 PM on June 27 and 6:45 AM on June 28, Moscow time. The statement further highlighted the range of regions that were targeted during these attacks.
The defense ministry reported that a total of 31 drones were shot down during the operation. The breakdown saw 9 drones intercepted over Crimea, 6 in Bryansk Oblast, 5 in Smolensk Oblast, 5 over the Black Sea, 2 over the Sea of Azov, and 1 each in Oryol Oblast, Belgorod Oblast, Kaluga Oblast, and Krasnodar Krai. These interceptions underline the ongoing tensions and the strategic importance of each of these regions in the conflict.
