Deir ez-Zor: The Russian Air Force has launched airstrikes on two bases in Syria's Deir ez-Zor Governorate, targeting militants formerly stationed in the Al-Tanf area, as confirmed by the Deputy Head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria, Oleg Ignasyuk. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ignasyuk detailed the operations during a press conference, stating, "The Russian Air Force attacked two specific bases of militants who left Al-Tanf area and were hiding in hard-to-reach areas in Deir ez-Zor Governorate." These strikes come amid increasing tensions as Ignasyuk also noted a recent incident where an MQ-9 drone, operated by the US-led coalition, came dangerously close to a Russian Su-35 aircraft south of Homs Governorate. The continuation of these aerial encounters has been highlighted by Ignasyuk as a persistent issue, with coalition aircraft frequently creating precarious situations that could escalate conflicts in the region.
