Baghdad: The Russian Embassy in Iraq extended its congratulations on the occasion of World Arabic Language Day. In a statement, the Embassy highlighted the significant role of the Arabic language in history and culture, emphasizing its influence across various fields.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Embassy stated: “The Arabic language is the language of the Holy Quran and the language of the greatest poets, such as Abu al-Tayyib al-Mutanabbi and Abu Nuwas, and the language of the most famous writers, such as Naguib Mahfouz and Khalil Gibran, and the language of the songs of Fairuz and Umm Kulthum.”

The statement further elaborated on the contributions of Arabic to science and knowledge. The Embassy remarked, “Arabic is the language in which the greatest scientists in human history wrote, such as Ibn Sina, Ibn Rushd, Ibn al-Haytham, and others who gifted humanity with timeless knowledge and sciences.”

The Embassy concluded by expressing the modern world’s reliance on the Arabic language, noting its role as a bridge to the rich Arab civilization. “Today, the entire modern world is unimaginable without the Arabic language, for it is a true bridge to one of the greatest civilizations in history, the Arab civilization. We are proud to be Arabists and honored to have had the opportunity in our lives to study the Arabic language, which is a true treasure and a source of inspiration,” the statement read.
