Moscow: The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that dialogue with the United States is ongoing daily and at various levels.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov explained in a press statement that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is maintaining contact with his American counterpart both in writing and verbally. He emphasized that a working-level dialogue is continuing, suggesting that it occurs on a daily basis. Ryabkov noted that the conflict in Ukraine could be resolved quickly if the United States acted upon the acceptance Russia gave to the American proposals at the Alaska summit.
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister chose not to comment on US President Donald Trump's statements suggesting that a settlement to the conflict in Ukraine is closer than it appears. He remarked, "If the American administration is prepared to act upon the acceptance Russia gave to the American proposals in Anchorage, Alaska, then it is likely true."
Ryabkov further stated, "We never close anything off, and we will continue contacts with the United States regarding Ukraine if Washington changes its position. We will continue in any case."
