Sako: The Christians are not a commodity for sale. They are anxious and afraid of the future, and seriously considering emigration

Kirkuk The Patriarch, Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako, said that Christians are not a commodity to be sold to this or that side.

This came during his visit to Defense Minister Thabet Muhammad Saeed Al-Abbasi, in his office at the Ministry of Defense in Baghdad.

Patriarch Sako presented the situation of Christians, especially in the towns of the Nineveh Plain, from Qaraqosh to Alqosh, stressing the role of the central government in defending their rights, establishing rules of mutual respect and national partnership, and preventing abuses against them by any party, especially what contributes to the process of demographic change.

He emphasized that Christians are not a commodity to be sold to this or that party, pointing to the seriousness of these behaviors that harm coexistence and national and community unity.

He explained that Christians are worried and afraid of the future and are seriously considering emigration.

For his part, the Minister expressed his support for the Christians and his solidarity with them, protecting them from any aggression or exclusion that would prevent their settlement in their towns.
