Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior has confirmed that the current Salah al-Din police chief is still carrying out his duties normally.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry addressed circulating rumors concerning a supposed 'security meeting' allegedly held at the residence of the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Hussein al-Awadi. The false reports claimed that this meeting concluded with the selection of Brigadier General Jassim Saleh Khalaf Mardoud al-Qaisi as a replacement for Major General Mustafa Ahmed Habib, the current Salah al-Din police chief.
The Ministry of Interior's press release categorically denied these claims, affirming that the present police chief continues to fulfill his responsibilities. Furthermore, the ministry emphasized that legal action would be pursued against those responsible for spreading the unfounded news implicating one of its police commanders.
