Baghdad The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received the former Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi, and discussed with him the latest developments in the general situation in the country and the file of the legislative elections.
Salih and Al-Abadi stressed, according to a presidential statement, the need to protect security and stability, enhance civil and social peace in the country, consolidate the national ranks, unite everyone, and rely on dialogue and convergence in resolving outstanding issues.
During the meeting, Salih pointed to the importance of protecting the democratic path, and the need to resolve electoral appeals in accordance with the law and through the competent judicial authority, and in accordance with professional and impartial standards so that its outputs would be legal and constitutional and move towards forming a government capable of meeting the requirements of the stage and the aspirations of citizens for a free and dignified life.
