Samarra: In a coordinated operation marked by advanced technical and field strategies, a gang was arrested in Samarra for engaging in blackmail and fraudulent activities.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Interior reported that the joint efforts of the Salah al-Din Intelligence and Anti-Terrorism Directorate and the Samarra Police Directorate led to the successful apprehension of the individuals involved. The arrest was made by the Samarra Crime Control Office after a period of meticulous surveillance and follow-up. The gang members were caught while allegedly blackmailing and bargaining with citizens, falsely claiming the existence of lawsuits and arrest warrants against them to extort money.
The Ministry of Interior further elaborated that upon arrest, the gang members were taken into custody where they recorded confessions. These confessions have been documented and the suspects have been referred to the judiciary system to face legal proceedings and receive appropriate penalties u
nder the law.
