Riyadh: The Saudi capital, Riyadh, will host the Gulf-US summit next Wednesday, in light of US President Donald Trump’s historic first foreign visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. An American official and two Arab officials reported that Saudi Arabia intends to host the summit on Wednesday, bringing together the US President and his counterparts, the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the summit, which marks the US President’s first official foreign trip, reflects the growing importance his administration places on cooperation between the United States and the Gulf states. The summit will be an opportunity for the US President to present his vision for US engagement in the Middle East and define his country’s interests in the region.

This summit will be the fourth between the United States and the Gulf Cooperation Council states, following three previous meetings. The first was at Camp David in May 2015, the second in the same month of 2017 in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with the participation of US President Donald Trump during his first term, and the third in July 2022 with Arab participation, including Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz extended invitations to the leaders of the Gulf States yesterday, Sunday, to attend the Gulf-US summit in Riyadh.
