Kirkuk: Security forces have apprehended the individual responsible for the assassination of a police colonel on the Kirkuk ring road. The suspect also killed the driver accompanying him and attempted a solo escape.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Kirkuk police previously reported the death of the colonel, who succumbed to a gunshot wound to the neck and three to the chest. The injuries proved fatal shortly after he was transported to the hospital.
Colonel Zaid Adel Sabih Jirjis, who was part of the Christian community, served as the director of the Arafa police station in Kirkuk. His assassination has sent shockwaves through the community and the ranks of the local police.
