Babylon: The security services in Babylon Governorate successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle a collection of rare antiquities, resulting in the arrest of two individuals who were attempting to transport the items in a vehicle north of Hillah.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Major General Ali Al-Hasnawi, the Director of Babylon Police, credited the successful operation to precise intelligence obtained from the Intelligence Directorate, along with the involvement of the Directorate of Combating Organized Crime and coordination with the judiciary. This collaboration enabled the security forces to establish a well-planned ambush in the northern part of the governorate, leading to the arrest of the smugglers and the seizure of the antiquities concealed in their car.

The apprehended individuals and the confiscated items have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further legal action. The antiquities have been sent to the Antiquities Inspectorate for verification of their authentici
ty and historical significance.
