Baghdad The Security Media Cell announced the arrest of a number of wanted persons and the discovery of weapons and ammunition in Basra.

A statement by the Cell stated that the security forces in the Basra command continue to search for wanted persons and confiscate unlicensed weapons and ammunition within the sector of responsibility, as they were able to arrest 8 wanted persons according to judicial warrants, two of them for dealing in narcotic substances and two others according to Article 406 of the Criminal Penal Code. Through the 36th Mechanized Brigade, Operations Command Commandos Brigade, Federal Police and Basra Governorate Police Emergency Regiments, 6 Kalashnikovs and a medium machine gun were seized, in addition to quantities of narcotics and light and medium ammunition.

In the same context, he added, the security and intelligence services were able to arrest a group of those involved in drug trafficking in the center of Basra Governorate, including a woman who was promoting narcotics.
