Baghdad:The Security Media Cell at the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has denied reports suggesting the release of individuals classified as terrorists from prisons in Erbil and Duhok.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Security Media Cell responded to reports that originated from various media outlets and social media, which cited a politician alleging that a large number of terrorists were freed and transferred towards Kirkuk Governorate. The Security Media Cell clarified that these claims lack support from any official statements or positions by the Iraqi security authorities, and no evidence has been found to verify such allegations.
The Security Media Cell emphasized that security and intelligence agencies are actively monitoring terrorist threats and the movements of wanted individuals. It underscored that security information undergoes thorough scrutiny and verification before being officially adopted or announced. Security forces across all branches continue to diligently perform their duties in pursuing remnants of terrorist organizations and preventing threats to citizens’ security, maintaining a high level of readiness.
