Baghdad: Two fighters have been martyred and a Counter-Terrorism Service officer injured following an IED explosion during a security operation in Anbar, according to a statement from the Security Media Cell.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when a joint force from the Anbar Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Directorate and the Counter-Terrorism Service conducted a search operation. The operation was aimed at inspecting the site of a recent airstrike that targeted ISIS hideouts in the Sahul Rawa area, which had resulted in the death of a terrorist group.
During the search, several improvised explosive devices were detonated, one of which exploded on the team conducting the operation. This led to the martyrdom of two fighters from the Counter-Terrorism Service and the injury of an officer from the Anbar Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Directorate.
