Baghdad:The Interior Ministry has identified that the security, political, and economic sectors are the primary targets of rumors and false news within the country.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Maj. Gen. Miqdad Miri, who heads the ministry’s Department of Relations and Media, emphasized that these sectors are the most vulnerable to misinformation. He highlighted the rapid spread of rumors but noted that they are countered swiftly by official statements aimed at clarifying facts.

Miri pointed out that a significant proportion of these rumors pertain to security and economic concerns. He also mentioned the involvement of numerous and recurring accounts, including a substantial number of fake ones, in the propagation of these rumors.
