Sulaymaniyah: Seismic observatories recorded an earthquake in Sulaymaniyah on Friday, followed by several aftershocks.

According to Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Transport indicated that the seismic observatories of the Meteorological Authority, Ministry of Transport, recorded an earthquake this morning. The event occurred approximately 35 km southwest of the center of Sulaymaniyah Governorate and 26 km southeast of Chamchamal District.

The earthquake, which measured 3.9 on the Richter scale, was felt by residents living near its epicenter and was followed by several aftershocks. The statement urged citizens to avoid spreading rumors and to adhere to earthquake safety guidelines.
