Tokyo: A series of earthquakes struck various regions around the world on Saturday, including Japan, Pakistan, and the Kuril Islands, following the powerful earthquake that struck Russia’s Kamchatka region last Wednesday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Japan Meteorological Agency announced that a 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Kushiro City in Hokkaido Prefecture, and no tsunami warnings were issued.

Separately, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck parts of northern Pakistan after midnight, at a depth of 114 kilometers. It was felt in Peshawar and neighboring areas such as Swat, Malakand, Dir, Mardan, Haripur, and Abbottabad.

In the Pacific Ocean, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the northern Kuril Islands at dawn today. The Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismological station reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was 208 kilometers east of the city of Severo-Kurilsk, at a depth of 29 kilometers.
