Baghdad: The Central Criminal Court has handed down two separate sentences to an individual convicted of blackmailing two young women by threatening to post their photos on social media. The convict has been sentenced to two years in prison for each of the offenses.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council revealed that the convict had illegally accessed one of the girls' personal phones, extracting sensitive data and images. He then used this information to threaten the victims, demanding a monetary payment to prevent the dissemination of the private photos online. The court's decision was based on Article 430/1 of the Penal Code, which addresses crimes involving extortion and blackmail.
