Baghdad: A sewing course was launched with the participation of 60 female inmates at the Central Women’s Prison. The Ministry of Justice announced the launch of a sewing course for 60 female inmates at the Central Women’s Prison.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry quoted the Director of the Central Women’s Prison, Baidaa Nassif Al-Tamimi, as saying today: “The Training and Rehabilitation Division at the Central Women’s Prison launched a sewing and handicrafts course for 60 inmates, aiming to develop their skills and help them use their time positively, thus contributing to their psychological stability and boosting their self-confidence.”

Al-Tamimi emphasized: “The prison administration is committed to providing the necessary and legitimate resources for the Training and Rehabilitation Division to ensure the continuity of diverse educational and vocational programs, and to prepare inmates to acquire practical skills that can be utilized after their release.”

She pointed out that “these programs are part of the Ministry of Justice’s efforts to develop reform and rehabilitation programs by empowering inmates with applicable professional skills in the labor market, thereby enhancing their opportunities to obtain decent and sustainable employment, supporting their positive reintegration into society, and contributing to productivity and self-reliance.”
