Shalamcheh Border Crossing Foils Attempt to Smuggle Narcotics in the Possession of a Foreign Traveler


Shalamcheh: The Border Crossings Authority announced the thwarting of an attempt to smuggle narcotics in the possession of a foreign traveler at the Shalamcheh Border Crossing.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Authority stated in a statement: “Detachments from the Shalamcheh Border Crossing Directorate arrested a foreign traveler, who was found in possession of approximately half a kilogram of crystal meth, in addition to a number of Tramadol pills, expertly hidden inside a water filter, in a failed attempt to smuggle them into the country.”



The Authority explained that the seizure was carried out by the Technical Division in cooperation with the port’s Narcotics Division. A formal seizure report was prepared, and the accused and the narcotic substance were referred to the Shalamcheh Customs Police Station for appropriate legal action.
