Shalamja Border Crossing Reopens After Extensive Rehabilitation

Basra: The Shalamja border crossing in Basra was reopened after its rehabilitation and development. The Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Hussein Al-Awadi, inaugurated the Shalamja border crossing, east of Basra, on Saturday, following its rehabilitation and development, in the presence of Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Awadi opened the new halls designated for receiving arrivals at the Shalamja border crossing in Basra Governorate, in the presence of the governor, several members of parliament and the local government, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Police Affairs, the Director of Border Crossings, and a number of commanders and officers from the Ministry of Interior.

Al-Awadi emphasized that the opening of the new halls reflects the Ministry of Interior's commitment to developing border crossings and improving the level of services provided. He stressed that the Shalamja crossing represents Iraq's gateway, and that speed of service, excellent reception, discipline, and adherence to the law are fundamental pillars in serving visitors, while simultaneously maintaining the highest levels of security and protecting the borders.
