Sharjah Book Authority Opens Nominations for Eighth Edition of Translation Award

Sharjah: The Sharjah Book Authority has announced the opening of nominations for the eighth edition of the Sharjah Translation Award "Tarjuman". This initiative seeks to elevate the presence of Arabic literature on the global cultural stage by encouraging foreign publishers to translate significant works of Arabic creativity and thought into various languages. The award aims to build cultural and intellectual bridges between different peoples.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the total value of the award is 1.4 million dirhams. It is awarded to the best foreign translation of an Arabic work, underscoring the commitment of the Sharjah Book Authority and the Sharjah International Book Fair to promote translation as a tool for enhancing human dialogue and cultural communication. This endeavor also aims to transfer Arab knowledge and creativity to a global audience.

The Sharjah Book Authority will accept nominations until September 15th, with the announcement of the winners scheduled during the opening ceremony of the 44th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair in November.
