Baghdad: The Sharjah International Publishers Conference is set to return from November 1st to 3rd at Expo Centre Sharjah, organized by the Sharjah Book Authority. This session precedes the 45th Sharjah International Book Fair, opening on November 4th, 2026. The conference will gather publishers, literary agents, and experts for a professional program that includes training, business meetings, a $300,000 translation grant, and the Publishers’ Recognition Award. Registration is open until August 25th.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, emphasized the growing significance of the publishing industry as a key element in fostering cultural and economic development. He noted the need for effective models to produce, disseminate, and deliver knowledge in light of the expanding content flow and the diverse channels available for accessing it.
Mansour Al Hassani, Director of Publisher Services at the Sharjah Book Authority, highlighted the importance of publishers identifying opportunities and forming sustainable partnerships. He stated that the conference provides a platform to connect expertise, markets, and decision-makers, allowing participants to establish new networks and explore growth opportunities.
The Sharjah Book Authority encourages interested publishers, literary agents, and specialists to register via the conference website by August 25. Successful applicants will be informed of their participation by September 11.
The conference will feature 30 specialized workshops aimed at equipping attendees with up-to-date knowledge and skills in the global publishing industry. Topics include artificial intelligence applications, audio publishing, copyright management and licensing, international market entry strategies, corporate leadership, and strategic innovation. These workshops are designed to help participants stay abreast of industry changes and expand their global collaboration opportunities.
