Baghdad: Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, the Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, held a meeting with Akira Endo, the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, at his office in Baghdad. The discussions were centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the sectors of education, reconstruction, and water management.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from Sheikh al-Khazali’s office revealed that Ambassador Endo congratulated him on the successful elections and the victory of the Sadiqun Movement. The ambassador highlighted that holding the elections on schedule is a positive indication of the stability of Iraq’s democratic process.

The meeting explored enhancing bilateral relations, focusing on education, the construction of model schools, and water treatment projects. Additionally, they discussed potential collaboration on reconstructing Iraq’s electricity sector.

Sheikh al-Khazali emphasized the urgency of forming the next government to align with the aspirations of the Iraqi population. He also acknowledged Japan’s supportive role in fostering development projects within Iraq.
