Sheikh Al-Khazali Discusses Iraqi Election Results with Russian Ambassador


Baghdad: The Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, welcomed the Russian Ambassador, Albrus Kutrashev, to his office in Baghdad. The meeting highlighted the recent parliamentary elections in Iraq and their implications for the country’s political landscape.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Russian Ambassador extended his congratulations on the successful conduct of the elections. He praised the broad voter participation and the efficient political process that transpired. The Ambassador also highlighted the significant victory of the Sadiqun Movement, noting its increased political presence and influence among the Iraqi populace.



Ambassador Kutrashev reiterated Moscow’s stance on non-interference in Iraqi affairs and emphasized the importance of respecting Iraq’s sovereignty. He urged other nations to adopt a similar approach towards Iraq.



Sheikh al-Khazali expressed his views on the election outcomes, stating that they indicate a heightened level of awareness among Iraqi voters. He pointed out the critical role that young people played in reinforcing the democratic process. Furthermore, he mentioned that the government formation process is expected to proceed more swiftly, as the coordinating framework has solidified its stance on forming the largest bloc.
