Baghdad: The Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, has emphasized that Iraq’s foundational principles are firmly against any form of normalization or its legitimization. He called for an investigation into any statements and positions that promote normalization.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sheikh al-Khazali expressed his views on the (X) platform, highlighting that in times of heightened sensitivity regarding national decisions, any calls for normalization, regardless of their source or guise, are met with condemnation. He noted that such calls, even when presented under the concept of ‘Abrahamic religions,’ violate the Iraqi law that criminalizes normalization. This stance is seen as contradictory to Iraq’s national principles and the will of its people.
Sheikh al-Khazali further stated that the positions and statements in favor of normalization require clear legal accountability. He urged for a transparent and professional investigation into individuals who promote, justify, or remain silent on these matters, as they pose a threat to sovereign decision-making and disregard the issue’s sensitivity.
