Sheikh Hammoudi: Any Attempt to Ignite Shiite-Shiite Conflict Will Fail

Baghdad: Supreme Islamic Council leader Sheikh Hammam Hammoudi stated on Saturday that any attempt to incite a Shiite-Shiite conflict would fail. He emphasized that the Coordination Framework is currently working toward taking responsibility for its government by overseeing all measures and policies through specialized committees.

According to Iraqi News Agency, in remarks delivered at a dialogue forum and released by his media office, Sheikh Hammoudi highlighted that some forces are trying to spark a Shiite-Shiite conflict under the guise of protecting public interests. However, their real intent is to undermine Shiite political and social influence and to displace influential entities from their positions.

He further explained that due to the presence of the supreme religious authority, adherence to religious principles, and the awareness of the people about the true nature of this malicious conspiracy, any attempt to provoke a Shiite-Shiite war is doomed to fail. Hammoudi also asserted that Iraq is perceived by the Zionist entity as an adversary, urging Iraqis to recognize this entity as an antagonist aiming to weaken the region’s countries, extinguish their spirit of resistance, and strip them of freedom, dignity, and existence.

Sheikh Hammoudi underscored the necessity of building Iraqi armed forces with a national ethos, prioritizing the preservation of people’s lives, interests, and sovereignty as their sacred goal, free from political influence or personal interpretations. He clarified that Iraq does not have Shiite rule but a consensual coalition government comprising all political parties.

He elaborated that the Coordination Framework is moving towards government responsibility by monitoring procedures and policies through specialized committees. This framework maintains an active role in shaping visions and orientations, functioning as a state leadership council.
