Baghdad: Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, head of the Supreme Islamic Council, announced on Tuesday that Iraq is advancing towards a project of full and comprehensive sovereignty and the establishment of a strong state.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sheikh Hamoudi’s media office reported that he received Russian Ambassador to Baghdad, Alybrus Kutrashev, marking the end of the ambassador’s term. During their meeting, the ambassador lauded Sheikh Hamoudi’s patriotism and commitment to enhancing the bilateral relationship and his influential political vision on the Iraqi state.

The statement from the media office mentioned that Sheikh Hamoudi acknowledged Moscow’s supportive stance on regional matters and its assistance to Iraq amidst various challenges. He reiterated Iraq’s commitment to achieving full sovereignty and emphasized the importance of building a robust state. Sheikh Hamoudi also urged Russia to increase its involvement in Iraq, particularly in security cooperation and economic investments.

Furthermore, the statement highlighted Sheikh Hamoudi’s commitment to maintaining strong relations with allies who have supported Iraq.
