Baghdad: Head of the Islamic Supreme Council Sheikh Hummam Hamoudi stated that The Fatwa of The Sufficient Jihad was a divine inspiration granted to a courageous religious authority. He emphasized that the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) must remain a project of the religious authority for a free and independent Iraq and a dignified people by keeping it away from partisan domination and politicization.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Hamoudi, speaking at a dialogue forum, elaborated that ‘The Fatwa of The Sufficient Jihad was a divine inspiration granted to a courageous religious authority, embodying a clear vision for the future that turned tragedy into security, hardship into ease, and fragmentation into cohesion and victory.’ He conveyed that ISIS was a Zionist project and likened its atrocities to the tyrannical actions of figures such as Hitler, Netanyahu, Saddam, and the Baath, associating them with a school of killing, chauvinism, and terrorism.

Hamoudi expressed gratitude to Sayyid Ali al-Sistani for issuing the fatwa that saved the country and thanked the Iraqi people who responded with their conscience. He also acknowledged the contributions of those who helped dismantle what he described as a malicious project that aimed to fragment the nation and distort Islam.

He highlighted the PMF’s achievements through sacrifices, courage, and faith, noting that their rapid victories within three years are now subjects of international study, contrary to initial global expectations of a prolonged battle. Hamoudi reiterated the importance of keeping the PMF under the guidance of the religious authority, away from political influences.

Concluding his remarks, Hamoudi hoped that the PMF Commission would align with Sayyid al-Sistani’s vision, maintaining public trust, and emphasized the need for high-level training and cooperation with other security forces. He cautioned against complacency, citing the recent exposure of a Baathist cell planning attacks as evidence that threats to Iraq’s security persist, urging vigilance among the Iraqi populace.
