Baghdad: Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, head of the Supreme Islamic Council, affirmed that Iraq supports Lebanon’s steadfastness because the Zionist project encompasses all countries in the region, including Iraq. A statement from his office indicated that Sheikh Hamoudi received Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, Vice President of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council in Lebanon, at his office on Monday. They discussed developments in Lebanon, the aggression and dire humanitarian consequences faced by the people of southern Lebanon, and the insidious Zionist project targeting the entire region.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, Sheikh Hamoudi emphasized a moral crisis revealed by the international community’s stance on the horrific war crimes perpetrated against Lebanon and other countries. He warned of the repercussions for the stability and peace of all the world’s peoples.
He pointed out that Iraq’s support for Lebanon’s resilience stems from its understanding of the danger of the project targeting all countries in the region, including Iraq. He called upon the free nations of the world to take immediate action through international bodies to deter Zionist arrogance and stop the bloodshed and destruction in Lebanon.
